“Single-grain Scotch whisky deserves more attention – it can be fantastically tasty. Strathclyde is always smooth and sweet, but two decades of wood and oxygen effect has developed depth and roundness to the dessert flavours – buttered scones, sultanas, honey, banana split, rum and raisin fudge – and added a touch of ginger and chilli spice.”
Tasting Notes
Nose
Warm buttered scones with juicy sultanas. A touch of oatmeal and honey comes through, along with melted demerara sugar and currants.
Palate
White ginger and honey upfront with some of the darker, brown sugar and raisin notes building with time in the glass. Rum and raisin fudge along with a touch of chilli heat.
Finish
Baked bananas and toasted almonds linger alongside a touch of chilli spice.
