England

As well as having a proud, long heritage of brewing – beers of every style; cider; mead – and a more recent (if you call 200+ years recent) tradition of gin distillation, England has long involved itself in drinks across the world (rum, port, claret etc). Some of those are now made at home... gin was borrowed from Dutch Genever and the English wine scene has borrowed heavily from French methods. And, of course, there are now English whisky distilleries. The best of them have strived to do more than simply copy what their neighbours in Scotland are doing, for example by tapping into that brewing heritage.
